Bill granting new powers to the President passes in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey
The new bill passed by the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey grants the President the authority to change the waiting periods for promotions in the Turkish Armed Forces. It also includes significant regulations in various fields.

As a result of the vote held in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), the bill granting the President the authority to change the waiting periods for promotions in the Turkish Armed Forces was accepted.
This regulation will be implemented to meet the personnel needs of the force commands.
NEW REGULATIONS AND EXEMPTIONS
The bill also includes provisions for the exemption of equipment used in humanitarian mine clearance activities by the Ministry of National Defense from customs duties. Furthermore, it was decided that the rector of the National Defense University will be appointed by the President. The members and working principles of the Economic and Social Council will also be determined by the President.
MUNICIPALITIES AND SUPREME COURT TRIALS
With the new regulations, it is envisaged that municipalities whose population falls below a certain level will be converted into villages, and the legal entities of some municipalities and villages will be abolished. The time limits regarding the Supreme Court (Yüce Divan) trials of the Constitutional Court have also been reorganized. Accordingly, trials concerning the President and ministers will be completed within specific timeframes.
Finally, it is ensured that state-owned economic enterprises can be established as joint-stock companies and that these companies will be exempt from certain provisions of the commercial code. The Ministry of Trade will have the authority to establish a revolving fund enterprise. New regulations have also been introduced for institutions providing private housing services to students.
