Birsen Orhan, arrested after trustee appointment, released

Birsen Orhan, who was removed from office following the appointment of a trustee to the Tunceli Municipality, was detained and arrested while under house arrest, but has been released following an appeal by her lawyers. Similarly, DEDEF Board Member Veli Akyol and SES Representative Enes Boran were also released.

Tunceli Co-Mayor Birsen Orhan, who was removed from office following the appointment of a trustee, was detained and arrested on Saturday in the Pertek district, where she was under house arrest. Orhan was released by the Tunceli Criminal Court of First Instance following an appeal by her lawyers.

Following the appointment of a trustee to the Tunceli Municipality, Tunceli Co-Mayor Birsen Orhan had been placed under house arrest and issued a travel ban by the judgeship before which she appeared.

Orhan, who was detained by police while under house arrest, had been arrested by the Criminal Judgeship of Peace on Saturday and sent to prison.

RELEASED

Orhan was released again following the application made by her lawyers to the Criminal Court of First Instance. A release decision was also issued for DEDEF Board Member Veli Akyol and SES Representative Enes Boran, who were also in custody following an appeal.
