Following the removal of the Bayrampaşa Mayor from office, CHP candidate İbrahim Kahraman had initially taken office through a drawing of lots during the acting mayor election.

However, upon an objection by AKP council member İbrahim Akın, the election results were annulled. The stay of execution granted following the objection led to the process being restarted.

DECISION MADE TO HOLD A NEW ELECTION

As a result of the objection, the acting mayor election at Bayrampaşa Municipality is being held for the second time. The election is taking place today at 18:00 under heavy security measures. In the municipal council, AKP Group candidate İbrahim Akın and CHP Group candidate Recep Öztürk are competing.

CHAOS IN THE HALL

Tense moments occurred during the Bayrampaşa acting mayor election. The atmosphere in the hall suddenly grew tense during the re-election held following the objection. Verbal arguments broke out among council members after a person affiliated with the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı) had their name written incorrectly. This situation caused the tension to escalate and led to chaos in the hall. Following this development, the session was adjourned.
