Breaking News... Call from Tülay Hatimoğulları for Turkey and the SDF to hold talks!

Tülay Hatimoğulları, Co-Chair of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), made statements at her party's parliamentary group meeting.

Hatimoğulları made evaluations regarding the Execution Law on the agenda and the ongoing peace process.

Hatimoğulları's statements are as follows:

"We respectfully commemorate Savaş Buldan, Adnan Yıldırım, and Hacı Kara, who were disappeared and subsequently murdered 31 years ago, in your presence. We hope that we can leave behind that dark period of the 90s, including the Susurluk gang and extrajudicial killings, and close the pages of that dark history by opening a brand new page for peace.

A step needs to be taken regarding peace. In order to build a lasting peace, it is also important to keep the memory alive and to face history courageously.

"WHAT IS HAPPENING IN GAZA IS THE ZERO POINT OF HUMANITY"

We are witnessing new developments every day in the Middle East, a region that is the scene of competition and power struggles between global and regional powers. What is happening in Gaza is the zero point of humanity. International law has turned into a piece of paper. The geopolitical structure of the region is going through a chaotic transformation process. If one might say, the shell is the same, but the inside is changing rapidly.

Kurdish geopolitics, which plays a key role in solving many complex problems in the region, is an exit door from the labyrinth of the Middle East. Those who ignore the door are doomed to get lost in the labyrinth. It is urgent for Turkey to stop being a party to the conflict and instead take on a mediator role for regional peace, solving problems.

Turkey visiting Northern and Eastern Syria. We believe that hosting the administrations coming from there in Ankara or Rojava will contribute greatly to the peace process moving forward with healthier steps. This is not only for the peace of Turks and Kurds or Turkey's internal peace; with the steps to be taken, Turkey will contribute greatly to the peace of the region.

We reiterate our call once again: let us build peace together. Let us build and consolidate internal peace together. And at the same time, let us establish regional peace together. Let us build a democratic Turkey and a democratic republic together."

STATEMENT ON MID-YEAR WAGE ADJUSTMENT

The figures announced by ENAG are twice the figure announced by TUIK. That is the real figure. This situation has long since gone beyond being manageable. The government must remember and implement the promise it made: 'We will make a mid-year adjustment if necessary.' A mid-year adjustment must definitely be made to the salaries of workers, civil servants, and retirees.

SUPPORT FOR WORKERS

The strike initiated by 23 thousand workers. The rights of the workers in Izmir must be granted urgently, their rights must be met urgently. Workers are in the fields, in the protests. I am addressing my worker brothers and sisters; we will continue to defend your rights in this parliament and we will continue to be with you in the fields. We salute your resistance from here.

"THE GOVERNMENT MUST CERTAINLY TAKE SOME STEPS"

We emphasize that we are at a critical junction on the threshold of hopes and expectations, which is the most important issue of the century. It is necessary to understand the process correctly, to speak the truths with courage, and to handle this process calmly instead of reacting impulsively. Unfortunately, the scope of this process has not been fully grasped either within the government circle or by a part of the opposition. Looking at the government's practices, the question 'Why should we trust this process?' is being asked; those who say 'Good luck, a brand new page is opening in Turkey' are also asking the same question once again. They say, 'Why should we trust this process?' They see that not enough steps are being taken.

The primary party responsible for this wait-and-see situation, and the one that needs to take action, is the government. We emphasize once again; the government must certainly take some steps. It is essential that positive steps are taken.

The families of the victims of the execution law are here. I say welcome once again. Look, while we are talking about peace, while we are expecting many legislative acts to serve peace, unfortunately, even though information was shared that the Covid law would be included in the judicial package, the government withdrew it at the last minute. For this reason, distrust is increasing. How are we going to build a peaceful environment when there is distrust due to the lack of a legal infrastructure for the process?

MENTIONED IMAMOĞLU'S NAME

Strong, symbolic steps are needed to show the seriousness and irreversibility of the process. One of these was the Covid law, the expansion of the execution package, but these did not happen. We still have an opportunity, and let us evaluate this opportunity.

'CONSTITUTION COMMISSION' VISIT

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş's statement about establishing a commission is extremely important. We shared our views in our meeting. As the DEM Party, we emphasized that it is important for the commission to work in a result-oriented manner. And the country has no time to be stalled, and it must start its work actively as soon as possible. We mean a mechanism that does not just produce talk but develops concrete proposals and has a schedule. This country does not have a situation where its problems can be referred to a commission and left to rot there. Therefore, the commission must be established as soon as possible. Many vital agendas, from local administrations to disarmament, from the functioning of the judiciary to collective rights, are before us. Rapid steps can be taken with a functional commission."
