Breaking News... CHP leader Özgür Özel's Sinan Ateş response to Devlet Bahçeli: 'Get out of here'

Speaking at his party's parliamentary group meeting, CHP leader Özgür Özel addressed MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's failure to respond to questions regarding the murdered lawyer Serdar Öktem, stating: "All of Turkey is talking, yet some remain silent. The person shot in the middle of Ankara is from the MHP. Those who did the shooting and are being tried are from the MHP. Those who incited it are from the MHP. The person silenced after being released is from the MHP. Those who silenced them are from the MHP. The only one not talking is you, MHP member. You will hear what you deserve." Özel also disclosed the minimum wage figure on the AKP's agenda, saying, "They intend to increase the minimum wage by 20 percent without any shame or hesitation. They intend to make the minimum wage 26,000-26,500 TL at the end of this year and keep it that way for a whole year."

CHP Leader Özgür Özel held the first group meeting of the new legislative year. The CHP had not attended the opening of Parliament, protesting President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's statements are as follows:

The problems that have been troubling us for seventy days have not thinned out; on the contrary, they have increased and multiplied. We have continued to experience three major crises: a democracy crisis, a justice crisis, and an economic crisis resulting from these and poor management.

While the country's problems have grown over these seventy days, we have also grown our struggle. We worked in eighty-one provinces throughout the summer. We went to those who had grievances and listened to their problems.

We stood together and united against the attacks directed at our party. While some were having their own appointees applaud them in air-conditioned halls, we held twenty major demonstrations in seventy days.

We are in Istanbul again tomorrow for our sixtieth demonstration since March 19, and we are in the squares. While we were filling the squares with the strength we received from the nation, those who could not compete with us politically continued their attacks.

While we were growing the struggle, they were growing their conspiracies. They had already fallen from the nation's heart with their actions, and now they have fallen from their eyes as well.

They started seeking legitimacy overseas. They made unimaginable concessions just to have a five-minute meeting with Trump.

They sat idle for seventy days and did not concern themselves with the nation's troubles. Then, on October 1, they came to Parliament and postured in front of the cameras.

"WE DID NOT WANT TO WITNESS HYPOCRISY"

We reached a decision before October 1: We did not want to witness the hypocrisy of the person at the head of a government that operates Parliament when it suits them, bypasses it when it doesn't, disrespects the national will and attempts a coup, and works only for its own benefit rather than the nation's, by coming under this roof to make an opening speech and talk about democracy, communication, understanding, unity, and solidarity, only to turn around and continue the oppression. There is no doubt about that day. There is no doubt about that day. They tried to characterize the discomfort they felt from this situation as disrespect for the national will and disrespect for Parliament.

Let us remind those who say this: When the coup took place on the night of July 15, all coups, which by their nature are made against the government, and the whole world turns and looks, but it looks into the eyes of the main opposition. Despite all the injustice, lawlessness, contradictions, and fights between us up to that day, weren't we the party that brought the ballot box?

Aren't we the party that considers the status of this Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which brought the multi-party regime, sacred and protects this manifestation of the national will?

We made a decision that night. We gathered at our headquarters without hesitation. We called our counterparts. "Open Parliament, let's make it work, let's resist the coup from there together," we said. The Republican People's Party is a hundred-year-old party. We win, we lose. We are an opposition party until the nation gives us a new task. We do not condescend or attempt anything else. We said we are behind the elected parliament and democracy, and against the coup plotters.

"WE WERE TOGETHER ON THE NIGHT OF JULY 15"

On the night of July 15, while we were against the coup plotters, we were together with the deputies from the AK Party group.

We took our place on the side of democracy in the coup attempt against Tayyip Erdoğan; we were against the coup plotter. Now our party is again against those who fear those elected by the nation, who want to govern through their appointees instead, who run away from the ballot box even though they came through it, saying, "I got on the democracy train when it suited me. I fell to second place when it didn't, so I got off." That is, just as we did not give face to the July 15 coup plotter, we did not give face to the March 19 coup plotters either. We stood against them too. Last year, on October 1, they spoke here, and on October 2, they appointed a deputy minister to a political position—they say it themselves. Ministers used to be politicians.

Bureaucrats and undersecretaries are technical. Now ministers are technical, and their deputies are political. He appointed the deputy minister, whom he said would be "a bridge between the ministry and my organization," as the Chief Public Prosecutor of Istanbul...

SİNAN ATEŞ RESPONSE TO BAHÇELİ

On one hand, we are silent, we are patient; we haven't been able to come to Parliament for months, we haven't said a word. We respect age, but injustices are committed over and over again, injustices are committed over and over again. I stayed silent about what was said to me, I swallowed it, I ignored a lot of injustices. From time to time, I also valued some important statements, saying that indictments should be written, that trial without arrest is essential. Now, today, Mr. Bahçeli has come out at the first group meeting of this parliament, they have cut, copied, and pasted the same text onto the same teleprompter.

He is reading from there. "The one complaining is CHP, the one complained about is CHP, the confessors are CHP, the one taking the bribe is CHP, the one giving it is CHP." It is a complete lie. I ask here, which witnesses were CHP? Is the secret witness he calls by wood names like 'Linden' and 'Plane' the child molester secret witness, is he CHP? Or are they the businessmen who had their property and assets, inherited from their father for 3 generations, seized because they used to receive tenders from the AKP, and now that they received them from the IMM, their property is being seized, and now they are signing slanders when told 'if you sign, I will give these back to you'? Or, or those who threaten people with their children, saying, 'If you don't sign this, you won't see your child's face for 20 years,' who send children 500 kilometers away from their 80-year-old mother, who lock a sick 26-year-old child in a cell and tell the father, 'sign it now, get your son out,' who call him to sign a confession and detain his wife while he is on the way, saying his release depends on the signature you will sign—which part of the conspiracy set up by these people is CHP? But Mr. Bahçeli, Mr. Bahçeli, it has come to this point, it has come to this point. That CHP, this CHP, the thief is CHP, the corrupt is CHP. You will know who you are talking to and how you are talking. Look, all of Turkey is talking, some are silent. The person shot in the middle of Ankara is from the MHP. Those who did the shooting and are being tried in court say they are from the MHP. Those who incited it are from the MHP. The person silenced immediately after being released is from the MHP. Those who silenced them are from the MHP. Those who incited it are from the MHP. The only one not talking is you, MHP member! Only you, MHP member... If I hear what I don't deserve, you will hear what you deserve. You will hear what you deserve.

It was long past time for those who slander the innocent children of this party with intolerance to hear the words they deserve. They will hear them from now on as well. Come on, let's go. Come on, let's go! Let's see. The moment I hear it again, 'thief is CHP', 'something is CHP', I will explain who is related to which criminal organization one by one. Therefore, the patience we have shown from here on, the understanding we have shown, the respect for age, the duty that falls upon all of us in the critical process Turkey is going through, the point we have reached after being silent as we were silent, the fact that you played with the dignity of my friends at the first podium you took at the group meeting where we wished for health, means that whoever says what I don't deserve will hear what they deserve from now on.

Now some pro-government pens are talking about a 2,000-page indictment. Ready, put it on the front page right away. "Brick-like indictment is ready," they say. You say, let's type 'brick-like indictment' into Google and see who said it? 10 days before the 2,500-page Zekeriya Öz indictment came out, the Zaman Newspaper, Bugün Newspaper of the era, and today's pro-government Yeni Şafak and Sabah all called Zekeriya Öz's indictment a "brick-like indictment." Now I say to those who try to say the indictment written by today's Zekeriya Öz's with the same wordplay and the same headlines: In that brick-like indictment, they called Kuddusi Okkır an organization treasurer.

Silivri Municipality held his funeral. They called Ali Tatar an assassin. He took his own life with his service weapon. His innocence was eventually revealed. They were calling Türkan Saylan an agent in that brick-like indictment. The brick-like indictment called İlhan Selçuk a coup plotter. The brick-like indictment was sentencing Mustafa Balbay, Mehmet Haberal, and Tuncay Özkan to life imprisonment. Now these friends, these elders of ours, are walking the corridors of this Parliament with their heads held high. Zekeriya Öz wrote the brick-like slander. He ran away like a rat in the end, he ran away like a rat! What if today's brick-like indictment calls Ekrem İmamoğlu an organization leader? What if it slanders our friends in prison?

We are waiting for that brick-like slander. Not to be tried, but to try those who wrote it. We are waiting for the brick-like indictment. To see what kind of cover they have put on the character assassination that has been going on for years and months in that indictment. If we can't see it, to ask, to debunk what they wrote. And in the end, let everyone know this. The Republican People's Party respects the judiciary. The prosecution and judgeship are the most sacred professions, like advocacy. Those whose hearts are meant to distribute justice in this profession. But those who make themselves tools for someone's political operation, those who forget their consciences on the hanger at home in the morning and do injustice from the podiums they go to, they will not be able to do this.

In our government, those who hear not the request of any party or politician, but the request for justice, those who will distribute justice with honor, will have full judicial independence and full judge security, and they will distribute justice. So that this happens, God willing, at the very beginning of our government, we will dismantle all gangs, especially the White Toros, White Toros Gang that has settled into today's justice system, and we will pave the way for the distribution of justice.

MINIMUM WAGE MESSAGE

They intend to increase the minimum wage by 20 percent without any shame or hesitation. They intend to make the minimum wage 26 thousand liras and keep it that way for a year. Erdoğan came out yesterday without any shame or hesitation and said; 'our per capita national income has risen to 17 thousand dollars.' Where a 20 percent raise is targeted for the minimum wage, we are declaring war on high interest rates. We will rip these ticks off the citizen's back.

'RARE ELEMENT' REACTION TO ERDOĞAN

There is a reality of rare earth elements in the world now. Some studies say that Turkey is the 5th country with the most of these elements. There is a bird of luck on these lands we stand on. In the midst of so much blood and tears, Trump says to Ukraine, give me the rare elements. Technology is advancing through these.

He went behind closed doors and bargained for them. He is giving the mines in Eskişehir Beylikova, where they are most abundant, to Trump, and receiving legitimacy in return. Erdoğan cannot sell the future of this country for his own future. Rare elements are Turkey's future, let's not let them be sold."
