A welcoming ceremony was held for Chairman Özgür Özel in the city ahead of the rally that the CHP will hold in Adıyaman today.

"Tomorrow, we are raising the voice of our struggle from Adıyaman! We will be in the squares until we win against injustice, lawlessness, and those who try to usurp our will! There is no taking a step back; we are marching toward power hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm!

Highlights from Özgür Özel's speech are as follows:

Today, we are together here again with sadness, pain, and anger. The person who actually brought us together here today is someone completely different. We are here today for Abdurrahman Tutdere, whom I worked with in Parliament for two terms, whose honesty and diligence I can vouch for, whom I always found at the head of a wreck whenever I came to the earthquake zone many times, who pulled his own five-year-old nephew, his sister, and his brother-in-law from the rubble with his own hands and buried them in the village, and who ran to the other wrecks of Adıyaman without even receiving condolences; he is the one I love and whom you have embraced like a son, like a brother.

Abdurrahman Tutdere was a member of parliament. The earthquake happened, then I became the chairman. As chairman, we made assignments to the provinces, organized surveys, and are conducting studies. God knows, I didn't have much hope for Adıyaman because this is a city where Mr. Erdoğan received 65 percent of the votes. The friends who came and went wrote reports. I looked at ours, and the report says: “Mr. Chairman, don't bother with surveys or anything. Adıyaman has already made its decision, determined its candidate, and has chosen Abdurrahman Tutdere in its heart and mind.”

Both leftists and rightists voted for Abdurrahman; nationalists and conservatives voted for him too. Turkish mothers said “Abdurrahman” while mourning at his grave, and Kurdish mothers said “Abdurrahman” while mourning. This city said, “Make him the candidate.”

In the satisfaction survey, we saw that he is in second place with 67 percent, the highest satisfaction rate among municipalities within his scope, and the city is pleased with him. All surveys show that next time, Abdurrahman Tutdere will win Adıyaman again with a Turkish record.

- As such, some people felt a great sense of indigestion. You already know, we are in the process of the March 19 coup. When our party became the first party after 47 years on March 31, when we won 65 percent of Turkey, when we won the entire Aegean, and when the Republican People's Party became the only party with a provincial or metropolitan municipality in seven regions, they attempted a coup to stop this. They detained, arrested, and put our Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, whom you love very much and whom you stood behind with 15.5 million people on the 23rd, in Silivri.

- We stand behind both Mayor Ekrem and Mayor Abdurrahman to the end; we vouch for them as much as we vouch for our honor.

- There was a funeral today. At that funeral, the President's son and the ambassador, whom the President has now tasked with representing the Republic of Turkey abroad, the minister of the time who was involved in the “bakara makara” scandal, do not even look each other in the face. We, the Republican People's Party, are the party of those who look each other in the eye, stand shoulder to shoulder, love and respect each other, and love this country. You, on the other hand, are the party of those who cannot look each other in the face and who dig each other's graves.

- There was a Communications Director. The Communications Director naturally angered Erdoğan. Why? My brother, you have TRT in your hand, Anadolu Agency in your hand, all televisions and newspapers in your hand, the state in your hand; but on March 19, these guys call it a “coup,” they call what is being done a “political trial.” I call it “corruption.” 25 percent of the citizens believe Erdoğan, 75 percent believe Özgür Özel. They scolded him because you couldn't defeat one bus, one microphone, and two and a half channels. Now, the RTÜK President has dug so many graves and turned so many somersaults to take his place; all of Ankara knows. TRT will change, Anadolu Agency will change.

- They are stirring each other up like a witch's cauldron, digging each other's graves. On one side, there is Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is planning the future of Turkey and preparing for power despite being in prison, being a captive; on the other side, there is an exhausted AK Party government digging each other's graves.

- In this process, they set a trap for Mayor Abdurrahman: There is a slanderer, they call him a leader of a criminal organization, he is supposedly confessing. They release him and put those he slanders in jail.

- Putting a shackle on the foot of a city's mayor and keeping him at home like that is a complete loss of reason.

- This city says, “Let Abdurrahman come, he will get this place back on its feet.” Look, Veli Ağbaba received 38 percent in Malatya, a record vote! He was about to win the election with 40-42 percent in the last week. They spread this lie: “If the CHP comes, there will be no on-site transformation, so vote for the AK Party.” The AK Party won in Malatya, and the on-site transformation rate in AK Party municipalities remained at 15 percent. Abdurrahman Tutdere, on the other hand, exceeded 90 percent in on-site transformation. There you go, a CHP municipality!

He sent his greetings to you from me, look what else he said: “Mr. Chairman, they will broadcast it on live television,” he said, “Please, tell them, there was frost on the almonds, walnuts, pistachios, and grapes in my hometown, there is great damage. They promised to cover this damage, now they have postponed it, pushed it to November. There is no strength left to endure,” he said. He wanted to make Adıyaman's voice heard again and do something for the farmers. We are calling out from here: We want the frost disaster in all of Turkey and Adıyaman to be taken care of.

There are those who cannot do the job properly. Look, Mr. Murat Kurum, Erdoğan promised 650 thousand houses. The other day you said “250 thousandth house delivery,” 38 percent of the promise has been kept. Only 42 percent of the promised houses have been delivered in Adıyaman. You are giving the house, but, for example, I asked in Gölbaşı, 450 houses have been delivered, 150 are living temporarily, 300 are not living there. Why are they not living there? Because there are still deficiencies. Sewage is flowing into the stream, water is being connected, it is being connected illegally, there are tons of deficiencies. On the one hand, rent assistance is being cut, and dues are starting.

But despite everything, even what they say they “gave” is 42 percent in Adıyaman. Those who got votes by saying everyone would be in their homes in a year, after two and a half years, are still keeping 60 out of 100 earthquake victims in containers, still keeping them in exile. Adıyaman's population has decreased by 30 thousand people, unfortunately, they are not coming back.''
