Breaking News... Conditional approval for party congress from Kılıçdaroğlu

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was appointed as chairman by a court decision, made statements after exchanging holiday greetings with journalists.

Kılıçdaroğlu said, "There were phone conversations. Friends and party members came and went. A process has begun, and that process needs to proceed in a healthy manner. It is our common duty to struggle together."

When asked about calls for a congress, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "We will hold a congress. For this, the congress must be held on a legal basis. We will hold it after the injunction is lifted. We will talk to our legal expert friends about how we will hold the congress. It is clear how the chairman will be elected; you cannot bypass the congress." He continued as follows:

"I am not a party to the lawsuit; I do not know what the lawsuit is or what the process is. We complied with the decision. There is a lot of gossip; everyone is saying something. Party management is conducted with discipline within the framework of the law. There are conditions for expulsion. You have to follow the rules; if there is an expulsion, you open the party charter and do it according to that rule. There is no such thing as 'I didn't like you, so I will expel you from the party.' We will most likely convene the Party Assembly. The chairman does not decide everything alone; you have to consult."

When asked, "Did you make an objection regarding the termination of Özel's group chairmanship?", he said:

"I am not getting into these topics. Everything must be done on a legal basis; when you go outside the law, you face problems both as a party and as an individual. Everything must be done on a legal basis. If you do not recognize the laws, all the actions you take will be fruitless. The election of group chairmen, deputy group chairmen, the holding of congresses, the election of delegates, the election of the Party Assembly; all of these must be done within the framework of the law. CHP MPs do not come here by making an appointment. This is a party; anyone can come at any time. They can also come to protest. We believe in democracy. This is already in the nature of politics. That place is not anyone's father's property. You have to ask for votes from every citizen.
