Details of the second statement given by IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu at the Vatan Police Headquarters have emerged.

İmamoğlu's response to the question, "Do you have any relatives or acquaintances who are actively operating within terrorist organizations?"

"I am a person who is in love with the Republic of Turkey and its nation. I was born and raised in such a family; I do not compete with anyone regarding the love of the homeland. Because I accept every citizen as a patriot. But in my opinion, there is no one who loves their nation, homeland, and flag more than I do. I believe this question, like the one above, is immoral and malicious."

"Our nation knows my principle of 'I do not eat rights, nor do I let my rights be eaten' very well. Our nation does not like those who eat rights; they like those who do not let their rights be eaten. With this principle, and with my belief that our nation will take responsibility as of today and fight for their rights at the highest level, I declare that our nation is great. These slanders will hit the walls in the hearts of our nation and bounce back."

From Ekrem İmamoğlu's statement in the "City Consensus" investigation:

"Legal proceedings were initiated against the council members for the mentioned crimes of membership in a terrorist organization through an investigation process launched approximately 7 months after the AK Party lost the election in Istanbul and 26 districts. I see this process as a deliberate attempt to discredit. Either the Supreme Election Council (YSK) did not do its job, or the investigations being conducted are not fair.

I would like to state that I will seek my legal rights in a determined manner at the highest level against those who show deliberate behavior toward Ekrem İmamoğlu, who manages one of the world's largest cities, and who keep my life under threat."

In his statement regarding the "City Consensus" investigation, Ekrem İmamoğlu responded to a question about former HDP Deputy Co-Chair Azad Barış by saying, "I am a person who has held very different meetings with other political parties and the think tanks, political analysis institutions, and experts that primarily serve them during similar political periods. My relationship with Azad Barış is within this framework."

İMAMOĞLU CONTINUED HIS WORDS AS FOLLOWS:

"In the political history and institutional structure of the CHP, there is no need for an outsider's mediation to establish a relationship with a party, nor can there be. I do not accept the secret witness practice or their statements. They are fabricated, conspiratorial, and false statements.

I strongly reject the witness statements. They are entirely lies, slander, fabrications, and full of low-level sentences that insult the honor, dignity, and integrity of the people mentioned. I view with deep sadness and condemn the fact that the supreme Turkish judiciary would choose such a secret witness method and subject the mayor of 16 million Istanbulites, who has won elections in Istanbul 3 times with historic vote records, to these things."

I was announced as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate by the Nation Alliance in December 2018. At that time, I said to the leaders of the CHP and IYI Party representing the Nation Alliance in Istanbul, with their permission, 'I will of course say this as the Nation Alliance candidate, but with your permission, I would like to express that I am the Istanbul Alliance candidate. With this understanding, we must represent the Turkey Alliance for our entire country in the future.' Since that day, I have used the expressions 'Istanbul Alliance' and 'Turkey Alliance' countless times in every political race, especially in the Istanbul elections. The definitions made by another political party and the situation of those who share the same feelings bind them. I know that the expression 'City Consensus' is a DEM Party discourse. I neither know the names nor the discourses of some of the members of the terrorist organizations mentioned above, nor have I followed them; I have no such curiosity. As is known, the DEM Party fielded a Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate in Istanbul before the 2024 local elections.

Despite this, the CHP pursued an inclusive local election policy in Istanbul and many of our provinces with the 'Turkey Alliance' discourse and slogan. Within this framework, names from every party and view were included in the council member lists formed in districts in Istanbul and various provinces of Turkey. In many districts in Istanbul, people who had previously engaged in politics in many parties, primarily the AK Party, as well as the IYI Party, MHP, BBP, and DEM, were included in the lists. This process was submitted to the districts as lists approved by the CHP headquarters and delivered to the district election boards. It should be known that district election boards remove people who do not have the right to be elected, including those with 'Terrorist Organization Membership,' from the lists and request that they be completed within the time granted for providing names in their place. As we see in the question above, if people who were said to have been identified in 2022 were seen on these lists in 2024, they should have been intervened and removed; however, legal proceedings were initiated against the council members for the mentioned crimes of membership in a terrorist organization through an investigation process launched approximately 7 months after the AK Party lost the election in Istanbul and 26 districts. I see this process as a deliberate attempt to discredit. Either the YSK failed to do its job, or the investigations being conducted are not fair. After all, there are even civil servants among the people being processed. My knowledge on this subject is limited to this. The City Consensus should not be asked to me, but to the DEM Party executives who are currently in intense diplomacy with the government on Turkey's political agenda.
