The Republican People's Party (CHP) Afyonkarahisar Provincial Presidency held an extraordinary meeting following rumors that Mayor Burcu Köksal would join the AKP. The provincial organization decided to remove Murat Albayrak, who has long served as the Central District Chair and is known for his close ties to Burcu Köksal, from his post.

It is noteworthy that the decision to dismiss Albayrak came after the public debate sparked by the allegations involving Köksal. The CHP leadership did not share any official justification regarding Albayrak's specific situation.

INTENSE REACTION FROM PARTY MEMBERS

Allegations that Mayor Burcu Köksal would join the AKP caused a stir in the city yesterday evening. Party members gathered in front of the CHP Provincial Headquarters and the municipal building, staging a protest with slogans such as "Don't do it, Madam Mayor."

Party officials stated that they were unable to reach Mayor Köksal. Making a statement on the matter, CHP Afyonkarahisar Provincial Chair Hasan Karadeniz said, "Unfortunately, our mayor has bowed to political pressure; unfortunately, she could not resist. She could not show the same resilience as our other mayors who have stood their ground."
