Breaking News... Erdoğan's coup response to Özgür Özel: 'The CHP wrote the book on being a coup plotter'

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements at his party's group meeting.

Erdoğan appeared at the group meeting wearing a Turkey scarf. The highlights from the speech of the AKP President Erdoğan are as follows:

"I wholeheartedly congratulate our children who have earned the right to win the 2026 World Cup. I wish our team success in the matches we will play.

I congratulate you on the Nevruz holiday, and I express once again our satisfaction that no unrest occurred this year, despite the arson attempt by 5-10 provocateurs during the celebrations. I thank our dear nation once again for celebrating Nevruz in a way that befits its meaning and spirit.

We will continue to work day and night to be worthy of our nation's prayers. We will consider all 86 million as our fellow citizens and brothers, and we will never allow our law of brotherhood to be harmed. I want to make a sincere assessment of the situation here: as the AK Party and the People's Alliance, we are careful about our tone. We are especially careful not to be hurtful. We do not abandon common sense and composure.

We have protected ourselves against the aggressive systems of the main opposition that target our person and our party, and often exceed the boundaries of political courtesy. Sometimes we attributed this to the inexperience of the chairman. Sometimes we acted with the hope that they would find the right path. We did not respond to their provocations. While our surroundings have turned into a ring of fire and missiles are flying beyond our borders, we have stayed away from any political debate that would occupy us. Let everyone know that our stance is not to swallow the rudeness committed, but on the contrary, it is out of our decency.

As we have for 23 years, today we are striving not to add words upon words, but to add stone upon stone. We are in a struggle to make Turkey a global player, and we are concerned with stopping the bloodshed. We are moving forward with firm steps in the vision of the Century of Turkey without getting caught up in the virtual agendas fueled by the opposition."

If you notice, we maintained our moderation throughout Ramadan against the aggressive politics of the main opposition targeting our party. Sometimes we turned a deaf ear and attributed it to the chairman's inexperience.

Unless we were forced to, and unless there was harassment against the rights and laws of our nation, we did not respond to provocations. While our surroundings have turned into a ring of fire and drones are flying just beyond our borders, we have stayed away from any political debate that would occupy us. Our silence was not because we swallowed the slanders and rudeness committed, but out of our decency...

We only focused on our work, we focused on serving our nation. As we have for 23 years, today we are striving not to add words upon words, but to add stone upon stone.

We are in the effort to make Turkey a global player. We are concerned with reaching out to the oppressed and victims on difficult days.

'WITHOUT GETTING CAUGHT UP IN THE OPPOSITION'S VIRTUAL AGENDAS...'

With the motto that those who run with love do not get tired, we continue to run and strive for our nation. Without getting caught up in the virtual agendas fueled by the opposition, we are moving forward with firm steps in line with the Century of Turkey vision.

Yesterday, we launched a brand new field in the area of communication and telecommunications. Turkey has effectively met 5G technology. We have experienced the happiness of bringing 5G technology to our country, which will increase our country's competitiveness and raise our production efficiency. 5G, which provides data transfer 10 times faster than 4.5G technology, will hopefully carry our country to the center of digital transformation.

'YOU CANNOT PULL THE WOOL OVER THIS NATION'S EYES'

First of all, we must all be aware of this. The Turkish nation is a nation of wisdom, foresight, and discernment. You cannot pull the wool over this nation's eyes. You cannot pass off trickery as politics to our nation. You cannot deceive them... This noble nation knows very well how to distinguish the crooked from the straight, the sincere from the fake, the liar from the honest, and the moral from the immoral. Our nation sees very well the difference in level, tone, quality, stance, and vision between the AK Party and the People's Alliance and the main opposition party, the CHP.

'THE CHP WROTE THE BOOK ON BEING A COUP PLOTTER'

Our citizens are of course following the CHP's aggressive rhetoric, which it did not even pause during Ramadan, and are giving it the grade it deserves. Let them not forget that they are not belittling us and our party, but only themselves.

Insulting the ruling party of this country is not the place of anyone, including the person at the head of the main opposition party. In this country, the CHP wrote the book on being a coup plotter and a member of a junta.

The CHP has fingerprints in all of the provocations targeting Turkey's democracy. It is the CHP that strained society and politics before the April 27 memorandum. It is the CHP that patted the backs of those who attempted a street coup during the Gezi events, and it is the CHP that supported the coup plotters in the December 17-25 coup attempt. It is again the CHP that tried to exonerate the coup plotters by throwing the 'controlled coup' slander during the July 15 betrayal.

Let no one be offended, but in Turkey's dictionary of political terms, the word 'CHP' is written next to the adjectives 'coup plotter' and 'junta member'.

My very dear brothers, we do not have a political rival in front of us that is suitable for our caliber or our quality. Unfortunately, there is a character in the chairman's seat of the main opposition party whose mouth is foul and who does not blush at his insults. I am complaining about this lack of level to my noble nation, I am referring it to them.

You have not dealt with those who take bribes, those who commit corruption, those who extort tradesmen, and those who turn municipalities into a trough for their own gain as much as you have dealt with those who report corruption and those who say 'I paid a bribe'.

'WE WILL DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY FOR PEACE TO PREVAIL'

The war that started in our region on February 28 and has completed its first month continues by increasing the level of danger and threat. Our priority is for our country to get through this stormy period without any accidents or trouble.

Our Minister of Interior attended the quadrilateral meeting held in Islamabad, where the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan came together. At the meeting, we expressed our concerns and the joint steps that can be taken to stop the war.

The primary culprit of this unlawful war, which not only turns our region into a place of fire but also places an economic burden on the shoulders of all humanity, is the Israeli Government. It should not be forgotten that every drop of blood shed in the war will be a lifeline that will extend Netanyahu's political life.

Our Minister of National Defense, our MIT head, and our other friends are making intense efforts within their own areas of duty.

Turkey's stance is very clear. We consider it an unquestionable duty to do whatever is necessary for peace to prevail in our region.
