Breaking News... First comment from the AKP front after the TRNC elections: Disagreed with Bahçeli!

In the presidential elections held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, according to the unofficial results announced by the Supreme Election Council, Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Chairman Tufan Erhürman received the most votes and finished the election in the lead.

Following the election results, Justice and Development Party (AKP) Spokesperson Ömer Çelik made a statement via social media.

Çelik stated, "May the presidential elections held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus be auspicious for the Turkish Cypriot people. We will always stand by the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriot cause. We will continue to provide the strongest support for the historical and rightful arguments of the Turkish Cypriots."

CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE FROM ERDOĞAN

President and AKP Chairman Erdoğan used the following expressions in his post:

I congratulate Mr. Tufan Erhürman, who was elected President according to unofficial results in the elections held today in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

I wish that this election, in which our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters reflected their will at the ballot box, once again demonstrating the democratic maturity possessed by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, will be auspicious for our countries and our region.

As Turkey, we will continue to defend the sovereign rights and interests of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on every platform together with our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters.
