The return journey of the five-member Libyan delegation, which came to Turkey for an official visit and included Libyan Chief of General Staff General Mohamed Ali Ahmed Al-Haddad and Land Forces Commander Lieutenant General Alfitory Jribil, has unfortunately ended in disaster.
The Falcon 50 type private jet, which took off from Ankara Esenboğa Airport yesterday evening to travel to the Libyan capital Tripoli, crashed near Haymana. In this tragic and disastrous event, the three-person crew as well as the Libyan delegation lost their lives. This plane crash, occurring at a time when sincere and close dialogues between Turkey and Libya are increasing and mutual rights and interests are being defended in a coordinated manner, is both thought-provoking and saddening.
The path of Libya, with which we have historical, political, economic, and strategic relations, is naturally also the pain of Turkey. On this occasion, I convey our condolences to the friendly and brotherly country of Libya, and I pray for God's mercy upon those who lost their lives.
