Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted sharply to the 'criminal organization' remark made by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding himself and his close team, through a written statement issued from Silivri Prison.
In his statement, İmamoğlu emphasized that the Presidential Government System has caused serious damage to all state institutions, especially the judiciary, and stated that Erdoğan is interfering with the judiciary and attempting to mislead the public.
Stating, 'There isn't even an indictment yet, but the President immediately declares a "criminal organization",' İmamoğlu used the expression, 'You know very well that; there is neither a crime nor an organization, neither a radish nor a satchel!'
İmamoğlu's statement is as follows:
"Many of our institutions have suffered from the destruction of the freak Presidential Government system. However, none have been as severely wounded by this freak system as the institution of justice in the country. There isn't even an indictment yet, but the President immediately declares a 'criminal organization'. Not content with that, while trying to influence the judiciary in his own mind, he is also striving to create discord between us and our colleagues.
You know very well that; there is neither a crime nor an organization, neither a radish nor a satchel! No matter how many fake news stories you have produced, no matter how hard you try to force statements out of people, everything you have done with your slanderers and secret witnesses has backfired on you. My dear nation; this conspiratorial, divisive, and slanderous mindset no longer has any benefit to this country.
No one trusts such a rotten system. In a system where there is such a lack of trust; there is no money, no abundance, no prosperity, no bread, no jobs... These lawless acts and the environment they have created have made our nation pay the highest price, and they will continue to do so. Let them continue their lawlessness; we continue to work with all our might to serve this country. With God's permission; we will change this one-man, freak system together. Freedom and justice will come to our country."
