Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who was arrested on March 23, 2025, as part of an investigation conducted into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), was transferred to the İzmir Buca F-Type Prison on June 4 after spending some time in Silivri Prison.
Çalık's lawyers, who stated that he experienced health problems throughout his detention process and lost 18 kilograms, had applied for his release, emphasizing that their client suffers from acute leukemia and lymphoma.
HIS ILLNESS RECURRED, HE WAS TAKEN FOR TREATMENT
It was learned that Murat Çalık's illness had recurred, and he was recently taken to the İzmir Katip Çelebi University Atatürk Training and Research Hospital for treatment. As a result of the examinations, doctors decided that Çalık should undergo surgery.

While Çalık's health condition is being closely monitored during his treatment at the hospital, it was reported that he will be taken into surgery tomorrow.
