Breaking News... Özgür Özel reacts sharply to police blockade: 'We are not afraid, we are not surrendering, and we will not'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made his first assessment regarding the blockade of the Istanbul Provincial Headquarters during a concert held as part of his party's anniversary celebrations.

In his speech, Özel emphasized the party's history and the values that must be defended, stating:

"Those who do not know what kind of party this is confuse it with parties established in plazas or law offices. However, the CHP was founded during the War of Independence through the merger of the Societies for the Defense of Rights of Anatolia and Rumelia. The Istanbul Provincial Headquarters is our party's ancestral home. The title deed to that ancestral home belongs neither to me, nor to Özgür Çelik, nor to anyone else; it belongs to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk."

REACTION TO POLICE BLOCKADE AND TRUSTEES

Özel reacted sharply to the deployment of riot police to the Istanbul Provincial Headquarters and the appointment of trustees by unauthorized courts, continuing his remarks as follows:

"Shame on those who put our ancestral home under police siege, those who brought riot police to the front of our Istanbul Provincial Headquarters, and those who try to install trustees through unauthorized Civil Courts of First Instance. Defending the Republican People's Party is defending the Republic. Attacking the Republican People's Party is attacking the Republic. We will stand against them with our iron will. We are not afraid, we are not surrendering, and we will not!"
