Özgür Özel, who was stated to have been removed from his position as CHP Chairman by a court decision, announced that he has resigned from the Republican People's Party (CHP).
Özel announced his decision via a video shared on his social media account. It was noted that Özel, who signed his resignation, had previously announced that they would establish a new party.
In his statement, Özel said, “May it be auspicious for our country, our nation, our party, and all of us.”
SIGNATURES ALSO COLLECTED FOR ALTERNATIVE NAMES
Meanwhile, a notable detail is being discussed in the corridors.
Although the application was made under the name “New Party,” two alternative names were kept ready in case this name had already been taken or encountered a legal obstacle.
It is being discussed in the corridors that the second alternative is the "Change Party." For this reason, signatures were collected from the founding deputies not only for the "New Party" but also for the two backup names.
It was stated that 91 deputies signed for these two names as well.
Istanbul Deputy Zeynel Emre, one of Özgür Özel's close associates, announced that they have sat down at the table for the headquarters building.
Emre said, “We held a meeting regarding the building and, along with that, we made a preliminary agreement," and then provided the following details:
"While making that preliminary agreement, we said this: We will officially designate an address with the establishment of our party, and by the time the first monthly rent payment starts in October, the party will have been established and will have received donations, and we will cover it that way.
“THE FIRST PERIOD'S RENT WILL BE PAID WITH DONATIONS”
As you know, there is a legal limit here annually. The highest amount a person can donate should be 648 thousand liras. We planned it as follows: After the first stage is established, we will continue to receive donations along with the members.
Together with our fellow deputies, these donations will be made openly, especially in terms of paying the rent for the first period. Because this needs to be done transparently in Turkey.”
