While the repercussions of Beykoz Deputy Mayor Özlem Vural Gürzel's resignation from the CHP continue, it has been learned that 2 more CHP Council members have resigned.

"NOT A PERSONAL AGENDA"

In his statement regarding the matter, Uzun said, "I am announcing to the public that I have resigned from my Republican People's Party membership. Throughout my tenure as a Beykoz Municipality Council Member, which began with the March 31, 2024 elections, my sole purpose has been to defend the rights of Beykoz and the people of Beykoz. However, unfortunately, Republican People's Party Beykoz District Chair Mahir Taştan and his administration have consistently adopted a divisive, exclusionary, and weakening attitude instead of bringing the council group together.

While council members should work in unity, the district chair and his administration have divided the group by forming secret alliances with certain council members in the background, destroying common sense and solidarity.

This mindset, which places personal ambitions ahead of the interests of Beykoz, has prevented our party from being effective in the council and has even begun to target our will to serve Beykoz and its people. For me, what is essential is not a seat, a position, or personal agendas; it is the future of Beykoz and the interests of the people of Beykoz.

With this understanding, I am resigning from my Republican People's Party membership and declaring to the public that I will continue my path on a line that prioritizes the will of the people and the interests of Beykoz," he said.

RESIGNATIONS CAME ONE AFTER ANOTHER

Gökdemir stated, "I have worked and struggled for years on this cause, which I inherited from my ancestors and father, within the Republican People's Party, of which I have been a member with great honor. Today, I continue to serve our people as a Municipal Council Member in Beykoz. However, the events of the recent period have deeply worn me down.

In the process extending from the provincial chair to lawyers and deputy chairs, I was left alone in the lawsuits filed against me. While I was in the news every evening, I felt abandoned on this path where we should have stood shoulder to shoulder.

Despite all these experiences, I hold no resentment toward my party or my fellow fighters, and I thank everyone I have walked with until today.

But I have decided that it is no longer right to maintain my CHP membership under these conditions. As of today, I am resigning from my party. From now on, I will continue to defend the rights, law, and interests of the people of Beykoz as an independent council member. My struggle for our people will continue," he expressed.
