Sakarya Deputy Ümit Dikbayır, who joined the CHP on October 21, 2025, has announced his resignation from the party.
Dikbayır's statement is as follows:
"RESPECTFULLY ANNOUNCED TO THE PUBLIC
The reason for this decision is not the history, base, or values of the Republican People's Party. My objection is to the mindset that, despite having occupied the highest offices in this party, still cannot remove the party from the shadow of its own personal agendas, grievances, and political ambitions today.
While Turkey is in need of calm, reason, and a sense of responsibility, I do not accept the Republican People's Party being turned into a tool for one person's never-ending settling of scores.
The offices of the party founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk cannot be a stage for personal advancement and the settling of past scores.
I do not find it right for a party that should be a source of hope for Turkey to be dragged into polarization, purges, and political intrigue for the sake of the personal vendettas of a person who came to office through appointment.
My objection is not to the Republican People's Party; it is to those who have turned the legacy of the Republic into a tool for sustaining their own political existence.
For this reason, I am resigning from my membership in the Republican People's Party."
