Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç made statements regarding the application made by the DEM Party to visit İmralı.

Minister Tunç spoke as follows:

'The process for the visit to İmralı is being evaluated. We will have work to determine a suitable date.'

WHAT HAPPENED?

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had said at his party's group meeting on November 26, "We expect face-to-face contact to be established between İmralı and the DEM group."

In response to this call by Bahçeli, DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan had said at their group meeting, "Together with Chair Tülay, we want to see and hear what Mr. Öcalan really thinks about this process, and as co-chairs, we want to contribute to the peace process. We want to contribute to the peace of this country by going and meeting with Mr. Öcalan. Challenge accepted."

Subsequently, it was announced that the DEM Party had submitted an application to the Ministry of Justice.
