Buğra Gökce, who resigned from IMM, announces his goals for İzmir

Buğra Gökce, who resigned from his position as Deputy Secretary General of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) to become a candidate for the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, explained his goals for İzmir in a post on his X account.

Buğra Gökce, who resigned from his position as Deputy Secretary General of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), has submitted his candidacy application for the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality.

After submitting his candidacy file to the CHP Provincial Presidency and stating that they would bring the highest number of votes in İzmir, Gökce made a new post on his social media account today (December 21).

HE EXPLAINED HIS GOALS FOR İZMİR

Highlighting that İzmir paid 277 billion TL in taxes in 2022, Gökce explained his goals for the city.

Gökce used the following expressions in his post:

"In 2022, İzmir paid exactly 267 billion liras in taxes. After Istanbul and Ankara, İzmir became the province that paid the most taxes in Turkey. İzmir's sectoral gross product accounts for 8.3 percent of Turkey's sectoral gross product. It is an important industrial center that provides the greatest contribution to Turkey after Istanbul.

If Turkey produces 100 liras of income in agriculture, forestry, and livestock, 4.4 liras of it is produced in İzmir. After Konya, İzmir is the province that contributes the most to Turkey in agriculture, forestry, and livestock.

However, unfortunately, İzmir receives far less public investment than it deserves. It is practically marginalized. This cannot continue like this. İzmir needs a leap forward in areas such as urban transformation, earthquake safety, transportation, and infrastructure.

The Ankara - İzmir High-Speed Train project, which has not been completed for 10 years, must be finished, and strong integration of İzmir's production with the center must be ensured through this train line.

The construction of the Halkapınar - Bus Terminal metro line has been on the agenda for 15 years. Unfortunately, the project has not progressed. For the construction of this project, which is of critical importance for urban transportation in İzmir and has a total investment amount determined as 8 billion 136 million, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure allocated 3,000 TL (yes, three thousand) this year. The rapid completion of this project is also an urgent need.

That is why we say: 'The short stick will take its due from the long stick.'

With the rational policies we will implement, we will call on Ankara to do its job and fulfill its responsibility towards İzmir.

'Good planning, strong execution' will help us overcome the problems.

İzmir will be treated in accordance with its own power, size, and position in every field, and it will be in the place it deserves in every field."
