Busy agenda for the Turkish Parliament in the new week: Budgets of 4 ministries to be discussed
In the new week, the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly will elect a Chief Ombudsman. Meanwhile, a legislative proposal containing regulations regarding the judiciary will be addressed. The Planning and Budget Committee will discuss the 2025 budgets of the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Ministry of National Education, and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.

The General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) will begin its weekly work on Tuesday, November 12.
The General Assembly will elect a Chief Ombudsman from among the candidates Mehmet Akarca, Burhanettin Sağsöz, and Şinasi Yurdakul, who were determined by the Joint Commission composed of members of the Petition Commission and the Human Rights Investigation Commission.
Following this election, the General Assembly will begin deliberations on the Draft Law on Amendments to the Notary Law and Certain Other Laws, which includes regulations concerning the judiciary.
According to the proposal, a new crime related to espionage will be established; those who commit crimes against the security of the state or its internal or external political interests in line with the strategic interests or instructions of a foreign state or organization will be sentenced to imprisonment from 3 to 7 years.
The period required for couples who cannot re-establish a common life after the rejection of a divorce case to file for divorce again will be reduced from 3 years to 1 year.
The Notary Fee Tariff will be determined at the beginning of January each year instead of March. State universities will be able to establish Child Monitoring Centers (ÇİM). The scope of the formal and non-formal education rights of convicts will be expanded.
BUDGET AGENDA
The Planning and Budget Committee will continue its deliberations on the 2025 budget. The committee will address the budgets of the Ministry of Trade on Tuesday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security on Wednesday, the Ministry of National Education on Thursday, and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance on Friday.
Specialized committees will also convene to address issues on their agendas.
The Security and Intelligence Commission, in a meeting to be held behind closed doors, will receive information from officials of the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) as part of the deliberations on the 2023 Report on State Intelligence Services and Security and Intelligence Activities.
JOINT COMMISSION TO ELECT 4 PUBLIC OMBUDSMEN
The Joint Commission, composed of members of the Petition Commission and the Human Rights Investigation Commission, will also convene to elect 4 public ombudsmen from among the 12 candidates determined by the Sub-Commission. The elected public ombudsmen will take their oaths in the Commission.
The Committee on Public Works, Reconstruction, Transportation, and Tourism will discuss the 2023 Court of Accounts Report of the Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency.
Group meetings of the political parties with groups in the Parliament will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
