Cabinet meets tomorrow after a two-week break! What is on the agenda?

As millions of retirees and employees anxiously await the rate of the salary increase for 2025, all eyes have turned to the Cabinet meeting.

The cabinet meeting, which was not held this week due to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's attendance at the G20 Summit, last took place on November 10 at the Çankaya Palace.

The Cabinet will meet at the Palace under Erdoğan's chairmanship after a 15-day break. The Cabinet agenda includes important topics such as both diplomacy and the economy.

UKRAINE-RUSSIA WAR AND ISRAEL-PALESTINE CONFLICT

Tension in the region is at its peak; both the Ukraine-Russia war continues, and the clashes between Israel and Palestine that began on October 7 have taken on a regional character.

Israel continues to strike Beirut, periodically Iran, and even Syria. While tensions were rising, an important decision was made last week. In fact, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Many western countries announced that they would comply with the decision.

In this context, President Erdoğan made a notable statement: 'We find it important for the sake of refreshing international trust in humanity that the courageous decisions taken are implemented by all countries that are parties to the convention.'

A case is ongoing at the International Court of Justice, and Turkey had decided to intervene in this case. These developments will be evaluated.

How will the hunger in Gaza, which has been facing Israeli attacks for a year, be alleviated? If we recall the statements of Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, he had said, 'an international initiative must be launched.' In this context, what role will Turkey play and can it be a pioneer? The answers to these questions will be discussed at the cabinet meeting.

ECONOMY

The end of the year is approaching. What will the new wages be in the coming year? How much of a raise will be given to the minimum wage? How much of a raise and inflation adjustment will civil servants and civil servant retirees receive? Inflation data is important. As the end of the year approaches, the answers to these questions will become clearer. President Erdoğan had targeted a figure of 44 percent for year-end inflation. What measures can be taken by the government to bring that figure down this year?

TRUSTEE APPOINTMENTS

Following Mardin, Batman, Esenyurt, and Halfeti, trustees were also appointed to the Tunceli city center and the Ovacık district of Tunceli.
