Call for a party congress from Salıcı, close to Kılıçdaroğlu, to CHP leadership: 'The congress is the ground for a solution'

CHP İstanbul Deputy Oğuz Kaan Salıcı made a statement on his social media account regarding the consecutive resignations of the party's experienced figures. Stating that the resignations are "saddening," Salıcı called on the party leadership to hold a party congress.

Emphasizing that the decisions to leave by figures who represent the experience, culture, and memory of the CHP must be evaluated with seriousness, Salıcı also commemorated Orhan Ziya Diren, who resigned from the party three days ago and passed away today. Salıcı said of Diren, "He lived as a Republican People's Party member, and he should have died as a Republican People's Party member. We will always remember him with love and mercy."

In his statement, Salıcı drew attention to figures including Önder Sav, Erol Çevikçe, Erol Tuncer, Kemal Anadol, Ahmet Güryüz Ketenci, Ethem Cankurtaran, Kemal Ekinci, Haluk Koç, Mustafa Özyürek, Alev Coşkun, Şükrü Elekdağ, and Hüsnü Bozkurt.

''The resignation of our party elders and companions who have spent their lives under the roof of the Six Arrows, from legendary secretary-general Önder Sav to Erol Çevikçe, from Erol Tuncer to Kemal Anadol, from Ahmet Güryüz Ketenci to Ethem Cankurtaran, from Kemal Ekinci to Haluk Koç, from Mustafa Özyürek to Alev Coşkun, and from Şükrü Elekdağ to Hüsnü Bozkurt, is a situation that must be addressed with seriousness.''

Stating that the CHP is the party of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Salıcı expressed that no party member should see themselves above the party's principles and values. Saying that the culture of intra-party criticism is permanent, Salıcı noted that different opinions and problems should be discussed and resolved within the party.

Pointing to the party congress as the address for a solution, Salıcı said, "The only ground where we will find a solution is the congress. The congress must be announced as soon as possible." Arguing that the CHP will overcome this process with the wisdom of its organization, the free will of its delegates, and its stance in parliament, Salıcı stated that the party will carry its institutional strength into the future.
