Call from Özgür Özel regarding the IMM case: 'Do not leave it until after the holiday'
Following the second hearing of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) case, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated that the detention review should be conducted before the holiday. Özel called for the evaluation to be moved forward, taking into account the situation of the families and relatives.

CHP leader Özgür Özel made statements at the exit of the courtroom after the second session of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality case concluded.
Republican People's Party Chairman Özel answered questions from members of the press.
“IT IS NOT PLEASANT TO SEE THEM IN DETENTION”
Speaking to Halk TV reporter Gamze Altunay, Özel made assessments regarding the situation of those being tried while in detention.
Özel used the following expressions:
“Ultimately, seeing our friends among the gendarmerie, seeing them in detention, is of course not a pleasant thing at all. We expect them to regain their freedom as soon as possible.”
“DETENTION REVIEW IS AT THE END OF APRIL”
Touching upon the court's calendar regarding the detention review, Özel said that the judge had provided a date on this matter.
Özel stated that the court indicated an evaluation regarding the detention status would be made at the end of April.
“IT SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE THE HOLIDAY”
Özel expressed that it is important for the aforementioned evaluation to be conducted before the holiday.
He conveyed his view on this matter with the following words:
“Having this before the holiday is the most important humanitarian need because everyone has a family. This should not be left until after the holiday. We believe that the detention review must absolutely be conducted before the holiday.”
“IT SHOULD TURN INTO A SOCIAL DEMAND”
Özgür Özel stated that moving the detention review forward is important for the families.
Özel used the following expressions:
“The judge said he would conduct a detention review at the end of April. This needs to be done before the holiday. This is an important humanitarian need. Especially when considering the families, mothers, fathers, and children, it is important that an evaluation before the holiday turns into a social demand.”
