Call from Özgür Özel to AKP and MHP

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel has sent an important message to his party's municipalities aimed at reducing the effects of social polarization in Turkey. Addressing all CHP municipalities, Özel suggested that AK Party and MHP officials from the ruling parties should be invited to every opening ceremony held. "This is my call from now on. CHP municipalities should invite the ruling party, AK Party and MHP mayors and officials to every opening they hold," he stated.

Pointing out that the tension and opposition experienced in the country must come to an end, Özel said: "The country needs to emerge from this polarization, from this tense climate where people demonize one another, and we need to march toward development just like in the era of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk."

In the continuation of his statement, he emphasized that they would attend every event they are invited to: "We will go everywhere we are invited; the country needs to emerge from this polarization, from this tense climate where people demonize one another, and we need to walk shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm, toward development just like in the era of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, whom we all love so much. We need to walk toward prosperity."

The CHP Chairman once again emphasized Turkey's ideal of surpassing the level of developed countries and used the following expressions: "We will become a global giant. We have given our word to Atatürk; we will catch up with and surpass developed countries, and we are starting this march in 2026. May our path be clear, may your path be clear."

While the CHP leader's message is seen as an effort to bring together representatives from different political views and strengthen political dialogue, it remains a subject of curiosity how this call will be received and what changes it will create in the practices of the party's municipalities in the coming period.
