In the process carried out in Turkey with the goal of a "Terror-Free Turkey," following the framework law passed by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), attention has turned to the decision to lay down arms and the steps to be taken. According to information obtained from security sources, the planning for the new era in which the PKK will lay down its arms has largely been clarified.

TIMELINE FOR DISARMAMENT BECOMING CLEAR

Within the scope of the process, a timeline of approximately 1.5 to 2 months is envisioned for PKK members to lay down their arms, evacuate caves, and hand over logistical materials to security forces. While the organization is expected to cease its activities within this timeframe, necessary steps will also be taken for the return of the terrorists.

In this context, it is stated that Abdullah Öcalan will make a call in the coming days saying, "Surrender all weapons to the relevant places and return to Turkey." Furthermore, it is noted that the organization's leadership in Qandil will also announce the process regarding the evacuation of the caves to the public.

NEW ERA WITH NSC DECISION

Once it is clearly determined by security units that the organization has disarmed and ended its existence, the file will be brought to the agenda of the National Security Council (MGK).

After the decision on the "dissolution of the organization" to be taken by the MGK is published in the Official Gazette, the official and legal process will formally begin. According to the planning, the disarmament process is expected to be completed by the end of September, and the framework law is expected to be put into practice in October.
