Candidacy statement from Battal İlgezdi, who resigned from CHP! Will he run as a candidate for another party?

Ataşehir Mayor Battal İlgezdi, who was not nominated for the March 31, 2024 local elections and resigned from the party, claiming that the CHP administration was purging figures close to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, appeared on a live broadcast on tv100.

Engaging in a debate with journalist Şaban Sevinç, İlgezdi responded to the question of whether he would run as a candidate for another party in the local elections by saying, "I will not be a candidate for any party; I did not resign to become a candidate." 

"WHAT ŞABAN BEY CLAIMED WAS A LIE AND INCORRECT"

İlgezdi stated, "What Şaban Bey claims is a lie and incorrect. I became a candidate by passing through the Party Assembly and the MYK (Central Executive Board), I did not become a candidate through the authority of the chairman. My wife did not leave the Party Assembly. If Şaban Bey does not know these matters, he should call and talk to the PM members from that date." Upon this, Sevinç said, "I did not say that the Mayor left the PM. Ferhat Bey said that." 

DEBATE BETWEEN SEVİNÇ AND İLGEZDİ

Following this, İlgezdi said, "If you want, let's do a special program with you. Let's talk about the PM. You have been lying here since this morning. You are lying about everything. Everything you mentioned is a lie." A debate ensued between Sevinç and İlgezdi following İlgezdi's remarks. 

"İMAMOĞLU CANNOT NOTIFY ME OF THIS"

Regarding his resignation, İlgezdi said, "Let me say this about my resignation: I did not resign to be a candidate somewhere or to be mayor again. The CHP has its own organs. Members of the MYK and the mayor pass through here and are appointed with the approval of the party assembly. A decision that cannot be made here can never be accepted. My colleague cannot notify me of this."

"I WILL NOT BE A CANDIDATE FOR ANY PARTY"

In response to Hacır's question, "Will you be a candidate for another party?", İlgezdi replied, "I will not be a candidate for any party; I did not resign to become a candidate."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Journalist Barış Yarkadaş had announced that Ataşehir Mayor Battal İlgezdi had resigned from the CHP. Yarkadaş stated that İlgezdi had said he would be the joint candidate of 7 parties. Yarkadaş had used the following expressions:

"CHP Ataşehir Mayor Battal İlgezdi has resigned from the CHP. I just spoke with İlgezdi for tv100. İlgezdi said he would be the joint candidate of 7 parties. İlgezdi reacted to IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and said, 'We are being purged because I supported Kılıçdaroğlu'."
