Cemal Enginyurt alleges 'payments were made to AKP-affiliated journalists'

CHP Istanbul Deputy Cemal Enginyurt has brought allegations of irregularities in municipalities that transitioned from the AKP to the CHP to the agenda.

Speaking on the Tele1 channel, Enginyurt alleged that large payments were made to certain journalists during the AKP era under the guise of conferences and seminars.

Stating that these journalists lead luxurious lives, Enginyurt said they own villas in Şile and Ümitköy.

Reacting to the investigations launched into CHP-run municipalities, Enginyurt asked, "The sources of income for journalists are being questioned. But how do these journalists drive luxury cars and buy villas? Where does this money come from?"

CALL TO CHP MUNICIPALITIES

Addressing CHP mayors, Enginyurt stated that they must disclose which journalists were paid and how much during the AKP era. "Mayors who took over municipalities from the AKP to the CHP must disclose which journalists were paid how much money during the AKP period," he said.

Cemal Enginyurt expressed that AKP-run municipalities should be questioned in a similar manner, adding, "CHP municipalities are being held to account for concerts, but why are the payments made during the AKP era not being questioned?"

Finally, touching upon the accusations made against Ekrem İmamoğlu by some individuals claiming to be journalists, Enginyurt noted that these people used to work as newspaper distributors in the past and are now appearing on screens. Enginyurt emphasized that such allegations must be clarified by CHP municipalities.
