Cemal Enginyurt's first statement regarding the investigation launched against him: 'This is only to be expected'

Cemal Enginyurt, who joined the CHP at the party's weekly group meeting, responded to the 'insulting and threatening the President' investigation launched against him later in the day with a statement on his social media account.

While it was noted that the investigation was launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office following Enginyurt's speech at the Turkish Grand National Assembly in Ankara, the CHP deputy pointed to this detail in his post, which included the following statements:

"This is only to be expected from those whose duty is to serve Erdoğan. Anyone who takes a step back is a coward. Justice has gone on vacation. Damn your justice, SHAME ON YOU."

The following statement was made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the investigation. 

The statement included the following: 

"An ex officio investigation has been launched against Istanbul deputy Cemal Enginyurt for the crimes of insulting and threatening the President due to the words he uttered about the President at his party's group meeting today. Presented for public information."
