Cevdet Yılmaz announces the number of Syrians who have returned to their country: 'Since December 8...'

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz attended the Vefa Iftar program organized by the AKP Çankaya District Presidency at a hotel.

In his speech there, Yılmaz spoke about the recent developments in Syria and the new reconciliation process, of which MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli is the architect.

Claiming that Turkey is currently a strong actor to which the world directs its eyes and attention, embodied in the person of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Yılmaz continued as follows:

"In this context, one of the greatest developments in recent times is Syria gaining its freedom, and a new era beginning in Syria with the people's revolution after a long dictatorship. It is not easy. Syria will be rebuilt. We all see it from time to time. Syria is facing various challenges and uncertainty. We believe that with Turkey's strong support, a stable, strong, and prosperous Syria will be built with an understanding that encompasses all Syrians, regardless of their sect, ethnic group, or religion."

Continuing his speech, Yılmaz announced the number of Syrians who have returned to their country since December 8, following the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime.

"With this happening, our Syrian brothers and sisters living here will also return to their country in a voluntary and honorable manner as a suitable environment develops. Indeed, there are those who have returned. It has accelerated a bit more in recent times, but when you look at the overall figure, 873 thousand people have returned to their country. As Syria strengthens and its economy develops, these returns will also accelerate."

Stating that the process of a Turkey without terrorism is very valuable and that they wish for this process to be concluded successfully, Yılmaz said, "In any case, the Republic of Turkey has the power, capacity, and will to fight terrorism. Let no one misinterpret this, but one would hope that this process ends within the scope of a Turkey without terrorism, with the terrorist organization dissolving itself and laying down its arms. Thus, in an environment where the problems caused by terrorism are permanently eliminated, let us carry our country into the future much more strongly with all our people, with 85 million. I wholeheartedly believe that we will achieve this. We will make the Century of Turkey a century of peace, brotherhood, and solidarity, where imperialist games in our region are thwarted. The Century of Turkey will be the century of brotherhood, it will be the century of peace, God willing."
