CHP calls for an extraordinary session of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey for Can Atalay!

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) has been called to an extraordinary session on Tuesday, January 9, for Can Atalay, who was elected as a Hatay MP from the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) but has not been released despite the Constitutional Court's (AYM) ruling of rights violation.

The petition submitted to the Speaker of the TBMM by the CHP group included the signatures of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and TİP Chairman Erkan Baş, as well as the group deputy chairmen of the CHP, DEM Party, and Saadet Party, Saadet Party Group Chairman Selçuk Özdağ, and independent MPs Sevda Karaca Demir, Cemal Enginyurt, and Mustafa Yeneroğlu.

STATEMENT FROM ÖZEL

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made a post regarding his party's call. Özel thanked the parties that supported the CHP's call.

Özgür Özel's statement is as follows:

"As the Republican People's Party Group, together with the Workers' Party of Turkey, the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party, the Saadet Party, the Democracy and Progress Party, the Democrat Party, and the Labour Party, we have called the TBMM to an extraordinary session on Tuesday, January 9, at 15:00 regarding the constitutional crisis we are experiencing. The IYI Party also announced that it would attend and support the session. We thank all the political parties that supported our call."
