In the Saruhanlı district of Manisa, the candidate list for the incumbent mayor and CHP mayoral candidate Zeki Bilgin and the municipal council members was not accepted by the district election board on the grounds that it was not submitted within the deadline; it was stated that an application would be made for the CHP candidates to enter the election from the Saadet Party list.
The Saruhanlı District Election Board convened upon the request of some political party representatives to "reject the CHP's mayoral and municipal council member candidate list due to it not being submitted on time."
As a result of the vote held at the meeting, it was decided not to accept the CHP's candidate list on the grounds that it was not submitted within the deadline.
It was learned that while the list containing the incumbent mayor and CHP mayoral candidate Zeki Bilgin and the municipal council member candidates was required to be submitted by 17:00 yesterday, it was recorded in the submission minutes at 17:08.
"WE WILL ENTER THE ELECTION WITH THE SAADET PARTY LOGO"
Following the District Election Board's decision, the CHP Manisa provincial administration, Saruhanlı Mayor Zeki Bilgin, and CHP Manisa deputies Bekir Başevirgen and Ahmet Vehbi Bakırlıoğlu held a meeting at the municipal service building.
Making a statement after the meeting, CHP Manisa Provincial Chair İlksen Özalper said that they had met with Saadet Party Manisa Provincial Chair Abdullah Yılmaz and decided to enter the local election in Saruhanlı with the Saadet Party's list.
Özalper spoke as follows:
"In the coming process, we are going to the election board to submit our mayor Zeki's mayoral candidacy application from the Saadet Party, with the Saadet Party, our former alliance partner and now our partner in building the Turkey alliance together. We will enter the election in Saruhanlı with the Saadet Party logo."
Zeki Bilgin, on the other hand, claimed that the issue regarding the late submission of his list to the board did not stem from him or his party, arguing that he went to the board at 16:55 yesterday, the relevant official was not in their office, and when they returned, they were told they were late.
It was learned that the mayoral candidate and municipal council member list submitted by the Saadet Party yesterday will be changed to show Zeki Bilgin as the mayoral candidate, 21 municipal council members on this list will be replaced with CHP candidates, and 1 municipal council member candidate will not be changed.
