CHP Chairman Özel spoke about the change and transformation in İzmir

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel came to Bayraklı as part of his İzmir program and attended a public meeting. Özel was accompanied by the CHP İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Cemil Tugay and the CHP Bayraklı Municipality Mayoral Candidate İrfan Önal. 

Addressing the citizens of Bayraklı at the Earthquake Memorial Square, Özel said, “Some people say, 'Sir, does the Republican People's Party think İzmir is a sure thing? Is the Republican People's Party not listening to İzmir?' By God, we are listening to İzmir, we are reading it, we are conducting surveys, we are looking at its demands, and accordingly, we are starting a great change and a great transformation in İzmir all together. 

All of our mayors who have served our party in past terms are very valuable. However, İzmir's most important demand is for a great change and a great transformation. This change and transformation has two important axes in İzmir. One of them is women.

In this city, where the first bullet of the war of independence was fired and the enemy was ultimately driven into the sea in this Republic founded by Atatürk, while Atatürk gave women the right to vote and be elected years and years before the developed countries of Europe, the time for a women's revolution had come in the centenary of the Republic. 

"I AM ENTRUSTING ATATÜRK'S DAUGHTERS TO ATATÜRK'S CITY"

Until today, we had a total of 6 female mayors in our party. Today, all of them are in electable positions. We have female candidates in three of İzmir's 5 largest districts and in 9 out of a total of 30 districts. I am entrusting Atatürk's daughters to Atatürk's city,” he said.

Speaking about the 2020 İzmir earthquake, Özel also said, “We lost 117 of our lives. We shed tears at the head of these ruins. Now, the primary duty of these two friends of ours will be to follow up on all matters to resolve the grievances caused by the earthquake. They will use whatever authority they need to use. I believe in both of them very much so that we do not experience the same tears again,” he stated.
