CHP Chairman Özgür Özel meets with party members in Elazığ

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who arrived in Elazığ to attend the memorial ceremony to be held tomorrow in the Nazimiye district for former CHP Tunceli Deputy Kamer Genç on the 8th anniversary of his passing, was welcomed by party members at the airport.

In his speech there, Özel said that he and Kamer Genç were always side-by-side in Parliament while he was alive.

"WE ARE AT THE GRAVESIDE ON THE ANNIVERSARIES OF OUR BROTHER KAMER'S DEATH"

Stating that they visited Genç with CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba shortly before his death, Özel said:

"He told me, 'I won't be here next year, let's see what you will do.' We replied, 'Even if you are not here, we will be by your side, we will not leave you alone.' Since January 2016, both dear Veli Ağbaba, Nurettin Demir, and our deputies from that term and this term have been at his graveside on the anniversaries of our brother Kamer's death. This year, I came here in my capacity as the Chairman of the Republican People's Party."

"HE IS OBSESSED WITH DEM, DEM, DEM"

Expressing that they exist in politics with principled politics like that of the late Kamer Genç—who was honest, fearless, and left his words to time but was never proven wrong—Özel noted that they are proud of the late Genç and all members of the Republican People's Party.

"From here, I address Recep Tayyip Erdoğan once again: Our struggle is with poverty, hunger, and the situation people have fallen into. There is a major economic crisis in Turkey. From here, from Elazığ, we call out: The nation's concern is not DEM, the nation's concern is price hikes, price hikes, price hikes. He is obsessed with DEM, DEM, DEM," said Özel, stating that the Republican People's Party and the DEM Party are separate parties.

"DO NOT COME BEFORE ME WITHOUT MAKING THE LOWEST PENSION EQUAL TO THE MINIMUM WAGE"

Özel continued his remarks as follows:

"The CHP has no agreements, commitments, or relationships with anyone that the nation does not see; everything is in plain sight. Leave DEM alone and look at the price hikes for once. The 10 thousand lira pension you set is not enough for anyone. First, you give the raise to the retiree, give at least a minimum wage, and then come and deal with us. The nation is hungry and poor; do not come before me without making the lowest pension equal to the minimum wage, I will not engage with you."

Stating that they want to achieve significant success in the local elections on March 31, Özel noted that former CHP Provincial Chairman Coşkun Çağlar is their candidate for Mayor of Elazığ.

"WE WILL WIN THE ELAZIĞ MUNICIPALITY, WE WILL WRITE HISTORY"

Özel said:

"I expect you to support our candidate for March 31, who is extremely hardworking and handsome, worthy of Elazığ, and who is our party's former provincial chairman. My expectation from all of you, along with our deputy Gürsel Erol, our mayoral candidate, and our provincial chairman, is this: I want to come to the Elazığ Municipality in April to drink a cup of coffee with you. Win the municipality, let's all come together, and let's stop the Elazığ Municipality from being a party's municipality and make it Elazığ's municipality. I wish you all success until that day, I will come again. We will win the Elazığ Municipality, we will write history."

Stating that they will be in Tunceli tomorrow, Özel added that he would also come to Elazığ to work with their mayoral candidate.
