CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made a statement on his social media account regarding the judicial crisis that began after the Court of Cassation refused to recognize the Constitutional Court's (AYM) 'rights violation' ruling concerning Can Atalay and filed a criminal complaint against the AYM members. Özel stated, "In order to keep the judicial crisis and the coup attempt on the agenda, we are starting a sit-in protest in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly as of today."

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had announced that an extraordinary Advisory Board meeting would be held in Parliament following the Court of Cassation's refusal to recognize the AYM's 'rights violation' ruling regarding Can Atalay and its filing of a criminal complaint against AYM members.
In a post on X, Özel announced that they had decided to take action, stating that he had learned the meeting would not be held.
Özel said the following:
"I have learned that the Advisory Board meeting, which was announced to be held by Parliament Speaker Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş and was expected to convene at 17:00, will not take place.
In this situation, in accordance with the decision we took at our extraordinary group meeting yesterday, we are starting a sit-in protest in the TBMM General Assembly as of today to keep the judicial crisis and the coup attempt on the agenda."
