CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's 'Gezi' message at the ADD's 17th Ordinary General Assembly: 'Tayfun Kahraman is serving time for all of us'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel attended the 17th Ordinary General Assembly of the Association for Kemalist Thought (ADD) in Ankara.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş was also present at the program.

'HE COULD NEVER DROP THAT CHILD OFF AT PRESCHOOL'

Speaking at the general assembly, Özgür Özel said, "I will leave here shortly and go to a preschool in Istanbul. There is a graduation at that preschool. The father of that child could never drop that child off at that preschool, could never pick her up. The father of that child is doing something in my place, and I am going in his place to watch his daughter's graduation. The father of that child is Tayfun Kahraman. He is serving time for all of us."

Speaking about the Gezi Park protests, Özgür Özel said the following:

"When the bulldozers came, they stood in front of them, they set up tents. FETÖ members burned their tents. They resisted, they grew in number, they became 100, they became a thousand, they became 10 thousand, they became 85 million in 81 provinces. Tayfun Kahraman did not say, 'Do not let the Prime Minister come to Turkey, hand over the administration to us.' If he had said that, he would have been a coup plotter.

He said, do not cut down the trees, do not build the Artillery Barracks, do not build a shopping mall, do not fire tear gas canisters as if firing weapons, dismiss the police chiefs of Istanbul, Ankara, and Hatay who gave these orders, and release those who were detained. All three of those police chiefs attempted a coup on July 15."
