CHP Deputy Chairman Murat Bakan has reacted to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's statement, "Let Öcalan come and speak at the DEM Party group meeting in the TBMM."

CHP Deputy Chairman Murat Bakan has reacted to the call made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli during today's group meeting regarding PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan: "If his isolation is lifted, let him come and speak at the DEM Party meeting in the TBMM. Let him declare that terrorism has ended and the organization has been dissolved."
“MENTAL BLACKOUT”
Stating that Bahçeli's proposal is a 'marginal offer', Bakan told 12punto, "Bringing Abdullah Öcalan to Parliament is a very marginal offer. Parliament is the place where representatives of legitimate politics speak. He is saying, for someone who went to prison for being the leader of a terrorist organization, let's take him out of there now and have him come and speak here at the DEM Party group. He has also directly equated the DEM Party with the PKK. This is truly not something that can be explained politically. It is a mental blackout. I mean, we have always pointed to Parliament as the center of the solution. Parliament is the place for solutions. It is not right to seek solutions outside of Parliament. The place for this solution is neither Imralı nor Qandil. If a political process is to be discussed in Parliament involving all political parties and all members of parliament, it must happen here," he said.
“THE TERRIBLE CHASM BETWEEN WHAT HE HAS SAID…”
Saying that he finds Bahçeli's statement strange, Bakan added, "And when we see the terrible chasm between what he has said until today and what he is saying today, either what he said before was not true, or what he is saying today is not. The greatest possibility is that this is a move entirely aimed at protecting the government, aimed at the upcoming elections, or aimed at reaching a majority to change the constitution; it could also be a pragmatic move to protect President Erdoğan's power. But having Abdullah Öcalan speak in Parliament is, quite literally, a mental blackout," he stated.
