CHP Diyarbakır Deputy and Deputy Chair of the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Human Rights Investigation Commission, Sezgin Tanrıkulu, visited CHP's Presidential Candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu at the Marmara Closed Prison in Silivri, where he is being held.
Speaking after the visit, Tanrıkulu said, "40 days have passed, and no evidence capable of convincing an average observer has been presented so far, and there are efforts to produce unlawful evidence through new operations."
CHP's Tanrıkulu stated the following:
"I met with our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Presidential Candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu. He is doing well. His health is good, and his morale is high. He sent his greetings and love to all his friends and our citizens. As a lawyer and a deputy, I would also like to state the following: Ekrem İmamoğlu is the Mayor of Istanbul. If you are conducting an operation and making an arrest, it means your indictment is ready. You do not go searching for evidence after that point. You have collected everything by the time of the arrest, and then you write the indictment. 40 days have passed, and no evidence capable of convincing an average observer has been presented so far, and there are efforts to produce unlawful evidence through new operations. Abandon this. I am calling out to the Justice and Development Party, I am calling out to members of the judiciary: end this lawlessness."
