CHP files lawsuit against Instagram access ban

CHP Şanlıurfa MP Mahmut Tanal has initiated legal action against the access ban imposed on Instagram by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) on the grounds of catalog crimes. 

Tanal argued that the decision taken by the BTK is contrary to Articles 2, 26, and 28 of the Constitution and Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Stating that the decision was not based on concrete grounds and was taken arbitrarily, Tanal announced that they have filed a lawsuit at the Ankara Administrative Court with a request for a stay of execution. 

Making a statement on his social media account X, Tanal said, "We have done what is necessary to 'block' the BTK, which issued the access ban decision against Instagram. We will share the developments and our statements on this issue with you. Stay with us, we will be stronger together."

''I have filed a lawsuit at the Ankara 20th Administrative Court with a request for the cancellation and stay of execution of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority's (BTK) decision to block access to Instagram.

The BTK's decision in question is arbitrary and unlawful!''

The social media platform Instagram, which was created primarily for sharing photos and status updates but has over time become one of the most important communication tools of the era, hosting over 2 billion users, had been subjected to an access ban by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK).
