CHP's Günaydın makes 2019 reference to Ali Yerlikaya: 'That trustee governor is appointing trustees'

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın, who was set to hold the first vigil today following the appointment of a trustee to the CHP-run Esenyurt Municipality, was not allowed into the municipal building. Confronted by a police barricade, Günaydın said, "In 2019, after Ekrem İmamoğlu received his mandate, they canceled it and appointed the governor as a trustee. When the will of the nation manifested, that trustee governor—the trustee governor whose first act was to remove the portrait of Atatürk from the wall—returned to his governorship. Now, that same trustee governor, in his capacity as Minister of the Interior, is appointing a district governor he made a deputy governor in a single day as the trustee for Esenyurt. This trustee will also go."

CHP's Esenyurt Municipality was placed under a trustee, and prior to the trustee vigil that began today, CHP Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın made statements at the municipal building.

NOT ALLOWED INSIDE

Günaydın said the following:

"A Municipal Council meeting is being held. In Esenyurt, 28 of the 45 municipal council members are from the CHP, 14 are from the AKP, and 3 are from the MHP.

Our fellow council members are not being allowed inside; they are being detained. The municipality is surrounded by barriers. This is not a picture of democracy. We learned this morning that trustees were appointed not only to Esenyurt, but also to Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti. Trying to create public opinion through the prosecutor's office as if it were a press release is not characteristic of democratic states. While a search was being conducted here, Ahmet Özer's lawyer was not allowed inside.

I state once again that we are standing up today with a demand for democracy. Law enforcement is trying to prevent a member of parliament from entering. This is not a situation that can be explained by the police duty law. Undoubtedly, our law enforcement friends here are trying to do their jobs.

However, the order is unlawful. Whoever gave this order is acting unlawfully, and those who obey it are violating the law. We will not leave Esenyurt to an appointed district governor or an appointed deputy governor.

REACTION TO YERLİKAYA REGARDING 2019

In 2019, after Ekrem İmamoğlu received his mandate, they canceled it and appointed the governor as a trustee.

This trustee will also go.

Sooner or later, we will ensure the will of the nation prevails."
