CHP will hold a charter congress in September 2024. Preparations for the charter congress, which is planned to begin on September 4, the anniversary of the Sivas Congress, will be accelerated after June 15.
According to the report by Mustafa Bildircin from BirGün; the opinions of former Party Assembly members and former CHP deputies regarding the charter change will be sought. After the opinions are collected, CHP staff will evaluate the views on the charter. The party management will spend the most intensive effort on the “three-term rule for parliamentary membership.”
Continuing its preparations for the charter congress, the party management will also continue its work on internal party discipline. Complaint requests regarding those alleged to have worked against the CHP in the March 31, 2024 Local Elections will be evaluated until the end of June. The party management, which reduced the total number of complaints from 1,819 to 886 and found 613 applications to be “noteworthy,” will send the reports to provincial disciplinary boards following the evaluation made in the Central Executive Board (MYK). According to the information obtained, there are also 39 district administrators among the individuals alleged to have worked against the party.
Continuing his contacts with political party leaders, CHP Leader Özgür Özel will also visit Constitutional Court (AYM) President Kadir Özkaya. During the visit, Özel will convey the message of “the independence and impartiality of the judiciary.”
EARLY ELECTION
The CHP will not pressure the government for an early election unless there is a demand from the public. The party management, which has determined the economic problems faced by citizens as its priority policy, will act with the view that, “We will only demand an early election if the citizens affected by the economic crisis say, ‘Election.’”
