Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that, as of 2026, bridge and highway tolls operated by the General Directorate of Highways will be increased by 25.49 percent.

Uraloğlu made the statement during a live broadcast he attended on NTV.

CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yavuzyılmaz, however, reacted sharply to these hikes. In a statement made via social media, under the heading "Facts that the AKP tries to hide from the attention of the citizens-45," he expressed that the hikes in bridge tolls are placing a burden on the backs of citizens. Yavuzyılmaz said, "To impose hike after hike on the tolls of bridges whose costs have already been paid for with the taxes of the citizens is to rob the citizens again and again."

Yavuzyılmaz also emphasized that this situation is unacceptable, noting that the rate of hikes applied to the 15 July Martyrs Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge between January 1, 2024, and January 1, 2026, is 293 percent.
