CHP Istanbul Organization on watch in front of Vatan Police Headquarters: 'This is a chain of coups'
Protesting the operations targeting CHP municipalities, CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik stated in his address in front of the Vatan Police Headquarters, "We are facing an attempt to spread the coup attempt of March 19 to Anatolia."

Turkey began the day yesterday with operations targeting CHP municipalities. Adana Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar and Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere were detained due to allegations made by Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who gave a statement under the scope of 'effective remorse' in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) investigation.
Information was shared that there were numerous other detentions besides Karalar and Tutdere.
The Republican People's Party (CHP) Provincial Organization also initiated a sit-in protest in front of the Istanbul Police Headquarters to support those in custody and protest the practices.
CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik gave a speech at the protest organized against the operations conducted against CHP municipalities in front of the Vatan Police Headquarters.
In his speech, Çelik noted the following:
"What is happening today is an attempt to spread the coup attempt that took place on March 19 to Anatolia. When the word coup is mentioned, one person in Ankara seems very affected. A presidential candidate elected with 15.5 million votes is in Silivri, elected mayors are in prison; this is a coup attempt. This is a chain of coups. They want to add another link to this chain. They arrested our Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek. Zeydan Karalar, Abdurrahman Tutdere…
Our friends are being punished without a trial. They are holding them for the full duration of the 4-day detention period for a 1-hour or 2-hour statement. The statements of Zeydan Karalar and Abdurrahman Tutdere have been completed. Unfortunately, the referral to the courthouse is not taking place.
A lawyer, Onur Büyükhatipoğlu, is being held just for performing his duties as a lawyer… At the police station, they say, 'It is not us, but the prosecutor's office that will take your statement.' The statement procedures have been completed; our friends must be referred to the courthouse."
