CHP Istanbul Youth Branch President summoned to testify

CHP Istanbul Youth Branch President Erdem Kara has been summoned to testify as part of an investigation launched against him for alleged violations of Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations. Kara is expected to provide his statement at the Vatan Police Headquarters today.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was testifying at the Çağlayan Courthouse on January 31, when CHP members gathered in front of the courthouse to show their support. During this time, the bus brought for İmamoğlu to deliver a speech was not permitted to enter the area, leading party members and citizens to react to the situation.

According to information obtained, CHP Istanbul Youth Branch President Erdem Kara, who was among those objecting to the bus being denied entry to the area, has been summoned to testify as part of the investigation conducted into this incident.

Kara is expected to go to the Vatan Police Headquarters today to provide his statement.

MADE A STATEMENT ON HIS SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT

Making a statement on his social media account regarding the investigation, Kara used the following expressions:

"We became a single voice in Çağlayan against the lawsuits filed against our Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (TBB) and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu by the judiciary they have politicized. 

“We are the Turkish youth, thirsty for justice and with full faith in democracy,” there is no account we cannot give.

We are in the thousands; we will not run away from an investigation just because we exercised our constitutional right. 

Today, I will give my statement regarding this investigation. My friends from the Istanbul Youth Organization have also given their statements as part of the same investigation.

As the youth of our Republican People's Party and our leader Atatürk, we do not run away from anything. 

We will never leave our Mayor Ekrem, who has won Istanbul 3 times and become the hope of 86 million, alone. 

Countless young people whom you have sidelined with your dirty interview system have an account to ask.

The young people you have condemned to three-penny scholarships and dormitories converted from prisons have an account to ask.

There is no salvation alone!

Either all together 

Or none of us."
