CHP's Karasu reacts to 'Political Alevism' attacks: 'What is being done about these trolls?'

CHP Deputy Chairman Ulaş Karasu stated that following the developments in Syria, sectarian-based hate propaganda is being conducted on social media in Turkey.

Karasu emphasized that posts opposing Atatürk, the Republic, and secularism are being made through the Alevi faith using concepts such as "Political Alevism," and that necessary legal actions are not being taken against these accounts.

In a parliamentary question directed to Minister of Transport Uraloğlu, he asked questions regarding accounts committing hate crimes, reports filed, and the potential state support for these accounts.

"HOSTILITY TOWARD ATATÜRK AND SECULARISM IS BEING PROMOTED"

Karasu, who submitted a parliamentary question for the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Uraloğlu to answer, reacted to the trolls attempting to attack Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Republic, and secularism through the Alevi faith and Alevi citizens using concepts such as "Political Alevism." Karasu emphasized that despite numerous reports filed regarding these individuals, the necessary and sufficient legal actions are not being taken against the accounts and individuals carrying out such attacks.

Stating that the lists of these accounts attacking secularism and all the information they use are in the hands of the state, Karasu requested answers to the following questions:

"Is there any work being done by your ministry regarding the identities of this person or persons who commit hate crimes and incite the public to hatred and hostility by using fabricated concepts such as 'Political Alevism'? If so, what are the results?

How many reports have been received up to the date this question is answered regarding these accounts that incite the public to hatred and hostility, commit hate and defamation crimes, and make posts against secularism and the Republic? Has any action been taken regarding the reports received? If so, what are the results? If not, what is the reason for not taking action?

Is there any work being done by your ministry to expose the owners and managers of these troll accounts that target opposition figures and institutions, organize smear campaigns with anti-secular rhetoric, and engage in black propaganda, including the production of edited photos and videos? Will there be?

Is the allegation true that these accounts are protected by presidencies, offices, and/or ministries or other official institutions affiliated with the Presidency, and are actively used by units created within these institutions?

Considering that the content of thousands of social media accounts that commit crimes of insult, threat, and attacks on personal rights every day is common, by whom and how is this content created?

Is the office that the AKP launched in 2015 under the name 'New Turkey Digital Office,' which is stated to manage corporate accounts, monitor rivals, and communicate with the field, still in operation? If it is in operation, how many people currently work in the office? By whom or whom are the employees' actions examined and controlled? Do the office employees work voluntarily or for a salary? If the office has closed, on what date did it close, and in which institutions or organizations are the employees currently working?

Before the New Year, who or whom is responsible for hanging certain posters that incite the public to hatred and hostility on billboards, bus stops, etc., in various parts of the city, especially in my constituency of Sivas? Who or whom is authorizing these? What are the actions and procedures taken regarding these incidents that contain hateful expressions and aggressive attitudes toward the public?"
