Low wheat purchase prices had caused a reaction from farmers.
Finally, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced that they will hold a "Wheat Rally" in Tekirdağ on Friday, June 14.
Speaking at the 12th Traditional Keşkek Day of the İzmir Bayraklı Kulalılar Association, Özel said the following:
"WE ARE ALL GOING TO TEKİRDAĞ TOGETHER"
"Wheat is our most basic food item, one of the most important elements in our nutrition, from which we make our bread, which is the most basic means of nutrition for all of us.
And then there are those who produce it; last year, wheat was 8 lira and 25 kuruş. From last year to this year, all inputs have increased by more than 100 percent.
The price of wheat only increased by 12 percent. They made it 9 lira and 25 kuruş. When wheat, which has a cost of 11 lira, is forced to be sold at 9.25 TL, the wheat producer becomes a victim.
Those who govern the country are ruining tea producers and wheat producers by giving prices below the cost.
This price of 9 lira and 25 kuruş is ruining the producer. Next Friday, we are all going to Tekirdağ together to hear the voice of the wheat producer and hold a wheat rally.
Until today, while heading to the March 31 elections, we said in the squares that we are before you with very beautiful, bright candidates in these elections. We said let's not play party politics while giving this support. We said these candidates are the candidates of the İzmir and Turkey alliance. We said let them be loyal to the homeland, the nation, and the flag. We said give your vote and warn the government; if you give us your vote, we will make your voice heard.
On that day, we held a rally with the unappointed teachers who supported us in the rallies.
We held the largest rally in history in Ankara for retirees.
The tea producer said we are miserable.
Now the wheat producer is rebelling; I am calling out to Turkey; you are not alone.
We are here, we exist. We are fighting for you."
