CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements to Sözcü regarding the allegations recently leveled against him. Addressing claims that he was not suffering from a broken foot but was actually shot with a gun, Özel stated that these rumors were being spread intentionally.
Özgür Özel included the following statements in his remarks:
"I had a household accident that could happen to anyone. However, I saw that a group, whose origins we all know well, has been conducting an irrational and immoral campaign on social media. This lie, spread by FETÖ accounts, was later added to and amplified, and has been intentionally continued. Our party spokesperson made a statement, and I made a statement myself; however, these allegations persisted. Because those running this campaign have no interest in seeking the truth. Their only goal is to harm us and our party. Everyone knows and sees this."
Stating that he even found it unnecessary to make a statement on the matter, Özel added, "Our agenda includes the country's problems and the solutions we will produce for them. We continue our work in an open and transparent manner for everyone."
'THERE IS NO LIVELIHOOD, THERE WILL BE AN ELECTION'
In his speech at the Social Democratic Municipalism Coordination Council Meeting, the CHP leader addressed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, saying, "We hear the rising voice of the nation. If you cannot do it, step aside and we will. We are the party of the people, the party of the nation. We are candidates to serve the victims and the oppressed, not the rich, the gangs, or the spoiled. There is no election, but no matter how much you resist, eventually, because there is no livelihood, there will be an election, and in that election, this nation will be in power."
Özel also drew attention to the forest fires breaking out in many parts of Turkey, criticizing the government by saying, "They do not allow metropolitan municipalities to own firefighting aircraft."
