CHP Leader Özgür Özel's sharp rebuke to Erdoğan: 'Where do you stand in this coup?'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel spoke at the CHP Provincial General Assembly Members Meeting. Stating that they stood against the coup during the July 15 coup attempt, Özel addressed Erdoğan regarding the "civilian coup mechanics" occurring today. Özel said, "I am addressing Erdoğan from here. Where do you stand in this coup?"

In his speech there, Özgür Özel gave messages about "power," emphasizing that the key to power is success at the local level.

"WE HAVE BROKEN OUR SHELL"

Drawing attention to the vote share reached in the last elections and the polls, Özel said, “Things are going well for the CHP in Turkey. The shell has been broken, our path is clear.”

“WE ARE IN ALL 7 REGIONS”

Özel noted that the CHP is the only party in Turkey that has municipalities in all 7 regions.

Özel said, "The vote we receive from the lowest education and lowest income levels is higher than other votes. It has turned the notion that 'CHP gets votes from the coasts, from the rich, and from university graduates' upside down."

"WHAT HE IS ATTACKING IS A NURSERY!"

Stating that the CHP is the leading party in the average of all election polls, Özel said, "Erdoğan's indigestion has been triggered; what he is attacking is a nursery, it is a mother's card."

Continuing his criticisms regarding Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek, Özel used the expressions, "There is no area in Istanbul that he has not attacked since October 9. He left no journalist, no academic, no artist, and no politician. He attacks and throws whoever he finds into prison."

"WHERE DO YOU STAND IN THIS COUP?"

Addressing AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan at the end of his speech, Özel used the expressions, "If a coup is staged against you, I am against it; we saw that on July 15. I am addressing Erdoğan from here. Well, where do you stand in this coup being carried out by Akın Gürlek? Shame on those who stage a coup against the CHP."
