CHP leader Özgür Özel speaks at group meeting for the first time: "It is the most insolent coup I have ever seen in my life!"

CHP’s newly elected Chairman Özgür Özel, who was elected at the party's 38th Ordinary Congress, is making statements regarding the agenda at his party's group meeting.

Starting his speech by thanking everyone who contributed to the CHP congress held last weekend, Özgür Özel also thanked Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu for his contributions to the party to date and said, "I greet him with respect, his efforts are unforgettable. We will show our loyalty to the end, I bow before him with respect."

Arguing that there were no losers in the CHP Congress, Özel spoke about the characteristics of the shadow cabinet he formed after the first Party Assembly (PM) meeting.

CONGRATULATIONS TO HATAYSPOR

Reminding that he made his first visit to Hatay after being elected chairman, Özgür Özel congratulated Hatayspor for their success.

"THEY SEE THEY HAVE BEEN DECEIVED"

Bringing the housing problem in Hatay, which suffered heavy destruction in the February 6 earthquakes, to the agenda, Özel said, "Those who voted for him (Erdoğan) now see that they have been deceived." Özgür Özel also stated that the CHP will increase its attention to the entire earthquake region.

THANKS TO LÜTFÜ SAVAŞ

Thanking Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş for the infrastructure work he carried out after the earthquake, Özgür Özel said, "The earthquake is a matter above politics" and noted that the support everyone gave to the infrastructure work was important.

"WE WILL CHANGE THE FATE OF THE COUNTRY"

Saluting the march of bar associations from the Ankara Courthouse in Sıhhiye to the Court of Cassation building regarding the judicial crisis that began with the Court of Cassation's reaction to the Constitutional Court's (AYM) rights violation ruling regarding TİP MP Can Atalay, Özel also said regarding the DİSK march, "When they arrive in Ankara, we will join their march and continue to Ulus. Our feet will see new paths, we will be a voice for their voices, and we will change the fate of this country."

"WE STAND WITH LABOR"

Özel said, "From now on, if labor and capital have come face to face, we are on the side of labor. If the strong and the weak have come face to face, we are on the side of the weak; if the righteous and the unrighteous have come face to face, we are on the side of the righteous."

During Özel's speech, slogans of "Özgür Chairman, free Turkey" were chanted from time to time.

Mentioning the situation of TİP MP Can Atalay, who continues to be held in prison despite the Constitutional Court's rights violation ruling, Özgür Özel continued his words as follows:

"The Court of Cassation's ruling involves ignoring the Constitutional Court and setting the agenda for Parliament. Mr. Kurtulmuş first gave a positive decision, but the advisory board meeting was not held, and it was understood that this was the most insolent coup I have ever seen. We are a party that has paid the price in every coup and whose chairmen have served time in prison. As someone who went to the TBMM on the night of July 15 and said we are on the side of the government and we are against any coup regardless of who it comes from, and who has stood behind democracy, I say this: If someone attempts a coup against Erdoğan, we will stand against it, but we will not leave the field to Erdoğan in this coup attempt."

HE ADDRESSED ERDOĞAN

Stating that the sit-in protest they started in the TBMM will continue until a new action decision is made after the Court of Cassation's ruling, Özel said, "If I do not protect this constitution, I would have wasted the authority to be here that the nation gave me." Addressing Erdoğan, Özel said, "Pull yourself together, do not cut the branch you are sitting on."

"WE DON'T HAVE THAT EYE"

Also mentioning Erdoğan's statements about a new constitution, Özgür Özel reminded that the ruling bloc does not have the majority to change the constitution and said, "We don't have that eye either." Özel also gave a response to Erdoğan regarding the New Constitution. Özel said, "If I attempt to violate the Constitution with you, may my eyes be gouged out!"

VISIT TO TRNC

Özgür Özel said that he will make his first visit to Northern Cyprus tomorrow on its 40th anniversary. Özgür Özel announced that he will make his second visit to Azerbaijan as soon as possible. Özel said he will go to Bosnia and Herzegovina on November 25.

'RETURN TO THE FATHER'S HOUSE' CALL

Making a call at the end of his speech, Özgür Özel said the following:

"Our party has started this march with a younger team from now on, and realizing that we are a big family without leaving anyone behind. The CHP is a father's house. Everyone returns to the father's house. The doors of this house are open to everyone who is not satisfied with the course of events. Come to the father's house, let's get stronger, let's change, let's get rich together. Let's bring this beautiful country to the level Atatürk wanted. The father's house is waiting for you for a great and rich Turkey."

PRIMARY ELECTION STATEMENT

Answering questions from members of the press after the group meeting, Özgür Özel said the following regarding determining metropolitan mayoral candidates:

"There is an unconditional primary election in parliamentary elections. In municipal elections, we will measure our current mayors with polls; if they are in the hearts of the people, we will nominate them again, if not, we will nominate someone else. What we will do most in this process is to ask the organizations. We will hold a primary election under the supervision of the organization. Whoever comes out of the ballot box, we will make them the candidate.

Stating that they will meet with İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener, Özel said that they have not set a date yet. Özel stated that they will evaluate the issue of alliance together with the party's authorized bodies.
