CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements following the appointment of a trustee to the Hakkari Municipality.

"IT IS DISREGARDING THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE OF HAKKARİ"

In a post on X, Özel said the following:

"We reject the operation carried out against the Hakkari Municipality this morning, the detention of the Mayor, and the appointment of a trustee based on a case that began 10 years ago and is still ongoing.

What is happening is a disregard for the will of the people of Hakkari, which was manifested just 2 months ago. The trustee appointment must be withdrawn.

We stand with democracy and the will of the people, and we oppose the trustee mentality!"

WHAT HAPPENED?

Following an operation conducted on the Hakkari Municipality, which was won by the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) in the March 31 Local Elections, Mayor Mehmet Sıddık Akış was detained in Van.
